Special Presentation

During the fair's opening ceremonies, Food Network star Guy Fieri donates to the 8th Grade Class of Ferndale Elementary School a new version of the “Awesome Pretzel Cart” with which he began his career in the food business years ago in Ferndale. According to Fieri, "My pretzel cart ignited my entrepreneurial spirit and I hope it will have the same effect on these kids.”

Barbecue Contest

They're in it to win it!

Also on opening day, Guy entertains as the host of a barbeque contest for Humboldt County Rotary Clubs and the Ferndale Kiwanis Club, with cash prizes. On the Midway Stage.
